San Jose Water Company (SJW) is an investor-owned public utility, and is one of the largest and most technically sophisticated urban water systems in the US. The Montevina Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is SJW’s largest surface water treatment facility with a treatment capacity of 30 mgd. The existing Montevina WTP utilized a mono media direct filtration process and was over 40 years old.
