WCDA 2025 Awards
We take great pride in recognizing several outstanding professionals who went above and beyond this year in their efforts to advocate for collaborative delivery and for WCDA's efforts to empower the water sector. Leading the charge were the 2025 Mark Alpert Collaborator of the Year award winners, Scott Phillips of Garney and Justin Sobol of Structural Technologies.
Without dedicated leaders like these, and without the support of all the member firms who provide time for their employees to participate in this vital work, we would not be where we are today. From the board room to the classroom to the job site to the state capitols, they excel at promoting better projects, together.

Blog Feature: Future-Ready Infrastructure: How Collaborative Delivery Enhances Long-Term Value in Water Engineering
Public works infrastructure in the US is at a pivotal moment. Many water and wastewater systems built during the infrastructure booms of the mid-20th century are reaching the end of their service lives. This presents a unique opportunity for engineers to rethink how we design and deliver infrastructure—not just for immediate needs, but for long-term resilience, sustainability, and community benefit.

Letter from Executive Director Barbara Martin
"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” – Sir Issac Newton
Participating in WCDA’s final meeting of 2025 in Boston earlier this month was the perfect way to close out my first year as executive director. Among the record-setting attendance in Boston, we were fortunate to have eight past presidents join us for this meeting—representing nearly half of WCDA’s history. These are some of the giants who come to my mind when reflecting on the above quote from Sir Issac Newton.
